How Sebtember works
Last reviewed:
A complete guide to sebtember.app — the wiki your AI reads. Upload your material once, organise it, and connect the AI tools that answer from it.
What is Sebtember?
Sebtember is the wiki your AI reads. You upload your material once — documents, price lists, drawings, spreadsheets, scans, images and notes — and Sebtember turns it into clean, AI-ready knowledge: it extracts the text, the tables and the drawings, and indexes them for search in the language they were written in.
Every AI tool you connect then reads that one source: ChatGPT and Claude, a widget on your website, a Slack bot, and the agents on Plugent. Their answers cite the files they used, and none of them reaches for the open web.
Getting started
Create your account. Go to sebtember.app and sign in with your Google account. You land on Home, which lists your catalogues, with a free starting balance of tokens (Sebtember's usage currency).
Joining via an invitation. If someone sent you a link to their catalogue or to shared tokens, open it and sign in with Google; you are connected at once.
Finding your way. The sidebar holds Home, History and your catalogues (your own, and the ones shared with you). Your name at the bottom opens the account menu: Profile, Usage, your other apps, and Sign out.
Catalogues and collections
A catalogue is a secure container for related material — think of a project folder that is indexed for AI. Create one on Home with New catalogue. Inside, group files into collections (by supplier, product line or document type) with New collection.
Add files to a collection with Add files. There are four kinds:
- Document — PDF, TXT, CSV, JSON, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, up to 25 MB. Scanned and drawing pages are read visually, page by page.
- Image — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, up to 5 MB: labels, nameplates, screenshots, photos of forms.
- Note— up to 10,000 characters you type or dictate: the know-how that lives in nobody's files.
- Attachment — any file kept for download only. It is not read by AI.
You can add up to 10 files at a time. Each file shows its progress while it is extracted; once it is ready, every connected tool can search it. A short description on a file helps the AI find the right one. A catalogue's Output setting tells the AI how to present answers from it (units, tone, what to always mention).
Getting your files right
The AI reads your files exactly as you give them, so a little preparation pays back for as long as the file lives in Sebtember.
- Upload the original, not a translation. Files are stored and searched in their own language, and questions in another language still find them; a translation only loses the exact wording of prices, names and codes.
- No blurry scans. Skewed, low-resolution or handwritten pages read poorly. A clean PDF export beats a phone photo of a printout.
- Tables: spreadsheets beat PDFs. An Excel or CSV file is read as real rows and columns; a price list kept as a spreadsheet keeps every price where it belongs.
- One topic per file. A focused document is found more reliably than one that bundles everything.
- Describe what the file is. A file called
scan_0042.pdftells the AI nothing; "2026 price list, Danfoss valves" tells it where to look.
Connecting your tools
Open a catalogue, go to its Tools page and choose Connect a tool. From there:
- ChatGPT and Claude search your catalogues from their own chats, over MCP (Model Context Protocol). Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients connect with a key.
- Website widget — copy the embed code to put an assistant on your site that answers visitors from a catalogue.
- Slack — add the Sebtember bot to your workspace to answer questions in channels and direct messages.
- Plugent — see below.
The Tools page shows which tools read the catalogue. You can pause a catalogue for a connected tool, or disconnect it entirely.
Plugent — the agents
Sebtember's chat and agents moved to Plugent: chat, troubleshooting, specifications, quotations and pricing. You sign in with the same account and Plugent spends the same token balance. It reads the catalogues you can open, minus any you pause.
Chats and runs you made on Sebtember before the move are kept under History in the sidebar: open them read-only, or delete what you no longer need.
Tokens and billing
Every new account gets 1.5 million tokens free. After that you pay as you go from one balance — for extracting the files you upload, and for the searches and answers your tools make. There is no subscription and no per-seat fee.
Top up on Usage; prices are shown in your currency with VAT for your country, and your receipts are listed there too. Your company details and VAT number go on Profile → Company.
Common issues and fixes
- A file shows an error — it is usually password-protected or damaged. Export a fresh copy and upload it again.
- A tool can't find something — the file may still be processing, or be paused for that tool. A clearer description often helps.
- You ran out of tokens — top up on Usage, or ask whoever shares tokens with you to raise your cap.
- Your payment was declined for country— the card's country must match the country on your Profile.
- Your VAT number won't verify — type the full number with its country prefix (for example LT…) and try again.
Privacy and security
Your files are stored privately and encrypted in the European Union, and never used to train AI models. Deleting a catalogue removes its files, text and search index for good; deleting your account (Profile → Delete account) removes everything you own, including your Plugent records.
